Astraeus
With titanium bikes being this good and within the ball aprk of many people's budgets, we can expect to see more of them on the roads in future. The Astraeus is a beautifull looking machine and the combination of carbon wheels and titanium frame makes a bike that is both fast and comfortable. Ride it in a race and you won't be aching all over. Maybe bikes like this will begin to change our ideas about what we should and shouldn't be riding.

Zion
It’s incredibly smooth for a hardtail, surprisingly affordable, unique and lower maintenance than a dual suspension bike. For a rider who enters a few 100km and team events each year the Zion would make a fantastic if somewhat left-field choice, so long as you have time to answer all the questions you’ll get from other riders on the trail.

220 Triathlon
With the Van Nicholas Mistral you have to ask (appalling Dutch stereotype alert!), “Were they smoking something interesting when they priced the bike up. It’s a really high-quality and versatile bike of which the team at Van Nicholas, and those of you buying it
should be proud.

Ciclismo a fundo

Astraeus
Everything in the bike world is carbon these days. Frames, forks, handlebars, seatposts, wheels, even your mini pump and the top cap on your headset. Carbon is definitely a Good Thing. And if it’s not carbon, it’s so last century. Trouble is, we can overlook the fact that lots of things that aren’t carbon are good too… like titanium frames, for example, which can be very light and strong and last aeons. And Van Nicholas’ Astraeus is an absolute beauty.

Mistral
Van Nicholas, purveyors of very lovely Ti bikes who have sent us details of two of their range highlights for next year – a completely new bike, the Mistral designed very much with the British sportive market in mind; and a complete re-working of an older big-mile favourite, the Zephyr.

Astraeus
